VITO MORENO SR.
Providence, R.I., USA
Young Pannese Social Club -Friday, December 17, 2004
VITO MORENO SR., 86, a 70-year charter member of our Young Pannese Social Club and the Pannese Society of Providence, died yesterday at his home.
Brother Vito was a very dedicated member of our club. He was presently serving as a club Trustee and had been a member of our clubs bowling league for 60 years. He served on many club committees and also often voluntarily took it upon himself to visit our club quarters to clean, paint, fix up and generally tackle anything that needed to be done.
Vito was born in Providence, son of the late Sabato and Santuccia (Ciarciello) Moreno. His parents were from Panni (FG), Italy, immigrating to America and settling in Providence in the early 1900's
He was the husband of Louise R. (Carlucci) Moreno. They had been married for 57 years. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Vito Moreno Jr. of Windsor, Conn.; two daughters, Ann Marie Fiorillo of Johnston and Linda McCaffrey of Seekonk; a sister, Catherine Petronio of Johnston; and six grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Joseph, Michael and Carmela Moreno.
Vito had been a painter before retiring in 1982. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid gardener. His "Vito's Garden” as it was known, always amazed it's visitors.
Vito was a very caring person to his family and friends. He always had a warm smile and outstretched hand ready to greet you.
Vito was also my godfather (padrino di battesimo) and my father's first cousin.
I will always miss him greatly.
Donald De Luca
